Yeah Berdych threw everything. Agree with that one.

Ancic played really well against Federer at Wimbledon 2006.

He had seven set points. 2 more in the last set, IIRC.

Re: Best ever performances in straight sets losses?

The second set and the end of the third of Djokovic-del Potro are worthy. Not so sure about the first set.

Federer-Djokovic 2007 US Open final

I remember a Nadal-Murray Grand Slam SF that was quite good. I think it was 2010 Wimbledon but they've played so many times at that stage that they blend together.

Andy Murray: 2012 Olympic gold and silver medalist. US Open Champ. Wimbledon champ. Never been prouder of him.

The Brian Baker Story. Proof that truth is stranger than fiction... until Hollywood buys the rights and proceeds to keep screwing the script up.

Score and opponent wise, Ljubicic's 7-6(5) 7-6(4) 7-6(6) loss to peak Federer in the 2006 Miami final was harsh. Federer won 124 points to Ivan's 121.

Re: Best ever performances in straight sets losses?

Roddick was outstanding in his straight set loss to Federer in the 2007 US Open Quarterfinal. Agassi said it best when he claimed that Andy would have beaten anyone else in the world that night.

Gonzalez also played Federer quite well in the 2007 AO final only to lose in straight sets. He hung tough with Fed even after losing the first set in a tight breaker, and really put out a quality performance even as the match slipped away from him.

Nadal-Djokovic Queen's Club was another quality straight sets affair.

Roddick-Safin TMC 2004 to accompany the other TMC '04 mentions. Safin struck the ball well all match long.

Re: Best ever performances in straight sets losses?

I already mentioned this match in the QF result thread, tonight's match reminded me of the Federer/Roddick 2007 US Open QF. Roddick was playing some inspired tennis, but Federer was just simply too good.

Federer vs Soderling, Madrid 06. That was a pretty good match I thought for 2 tiebreak sets.

Fed def. Davy 7-5 7-6 7-6
Davy played out of his mind till and Fed deffed out of his mind with extraordinary counter-attacks and so much more .

impossible that he had setpoints in the third, cause he lost that set 4-6...

Safin was garbage for a set and played a terrible tie-break.

And that was one of the last times Henman played really good tennis.

Good pick. Roger on HC in 2006 was probably the toughest opponent tennis has seen. He lost what...1-2 matches on HC whole 2006? that match was indoors too

Re: Best ever performances in straight sets losses?

Nadal df Federer 7-5 7-5 Monte Carlo 2008, Federer was outplaying Nadal in MC at the start of both sets.

All things are subject to interpretation whichever interpretation prevails at a given time is a function of power and not truth.
