Mayer had a backhand that was going way out, hit the netpost and landed in at 8-8 I think, too bad he was so shocked he missed the next shot.

Good effort from Mayer, considering he was hospitalized only 24 hours ago.

Bad day at the office for Delpo, this is one game he needed to win no matter his level of play. He looked too passive and frustrated with himself. He needs desperately to raise his game for the next round, something wrong is going on with his mind.

nid. delpo did well to keep this a 3 setter. next match against roddick or fognini should be a walkover.

Re: US Open R3 : Del Potro def. Mayer 6-3 7-5 7-6 (9)

The balls were hurt very hard in this match

the parts I watched (end of 2nd and 3rd sets) were very good, Mayer made some amazing points.

Not easy at all (3h20 I think)

but Del Po looked 100% to me, although he didn't hit as much on the backhand as on the forehand.

He hit the ball better than against Harrison anyway.

against Djokovic he obviously needs to raise his game but against Roddick not at all from what I saw against Fognini : Roddick will be easier than Mayer

Del Potro looks awful right now. He should still beat Rod-dick, but Djoker will straight set him.

^Is that you, rocket?

I hardly think that someone who hit about 10 more winners than unforced errors in a match played like "human faeces".

Monaco - Del Potro - Nadal - Wawrinka - Robredo - Dimitrov - Chardy - Berdych
