I think Lleyton's aware of it too. He wasn't happy to just trade in long rallies with Ferrer today, he was looking to take the initiative, playing on top of the baseline, often being the one to take the chance in a rally by going aggressively down the line and/or coming to the net. Obviously it wasn't enough today but there were some encouraging signs there.

Actually, I'm pretty sure it was you and your buddies lenders and tyson that claimed Lleyton would "take out the trash". In fact in the WWW thread, I can directly quote tyson calling Hewitt in 4.

So actually I find it quite impressive that he only took 4 sets.
Don't you agree? If anything, I find it quite muggy by Hewitt to lose to this "vulture" as you would say in 4 sets. Pretty muggy tiebreak by Lleyton too.

Anyway, I thought it was a fun match to see in person. Good job David. Moving on...

Hewitt was never going to win this, and Ferrer will take the R4 vs Gasquet, he is too solid for all but The top 6

Are you crazy? Ferrer wasted so many chances early on in the first set. He had MULTIPLE BPs in the first 3 Hewitt service games, it easily could have been 5-0 instead of 3-2.

Great result for the sport, Hewitt getting bageled only makes this extra sweet. Just another reminder that Hewitt is the luckiest multi slam winner of all time taking advantage of a mug era, and losses like these put his clown "reign" into context.

the Australian public, like the US with Roddick, don't give Lleyton enough respect or acclaim.

You've obviously never been to Australia then.

Hewitt matches are still shown over Stosur matches. There's more importance on Hewitt reaching Delray Beach final than when Stosur makes a final in Dubai All of this when Stosur is a current slam champion, and Hewitt having his best results a decade ago.

Well the ATP player will always take precedence over WTA....

Hewitt never seemed all that loved in Australia. Half of them seemed to hate him (a few years back a lot of AUS flag posters had him 1 in their most disliked list )

If you visited Australia for 5 minutes, you'd quickly realize how quick the commentators here are to lick Hewitt's ass. He can be 70 years old and still get WC into AO. The delusions here know no limits. He's still a slam winning material, apparently

Seems like Lleyton needs to retire soon, not just for the sake of his body and public imagine, but also for his marriage. Probably at the AO 2013.

Those articles about their marriage have been around for years. It seems whenever Womans Day are stuck for a story they throw up something about their marriage being in trouble.

As for anyone using Lleyton's results in 2012 to judge how good he was 10 years ago.. try growing a brain, his body clearly doesn't allow him to play like he used to.
