He probably would have announced it in his post-match press conference and the USTA would've arranged some time before one of the 7 pm matches later in the tournament for Roddick to come out and wave goodbye to the crowd (Remember how Sampras came out?).
This. He didn't want to announce ahead of playing a countryman. Fully understandable. It seems a long shot that he will run into another.

stupid question

Andy has zero chance to lose a outside 300.

And What make him to retired? he has no more interest to come back to Top ten, He run out gas and enough money to retired. so

GO Roger Federer, Nick Kyrgios, Borna Coric, Vasek Pospisil, Kei Nishikori, , Milos Raonic, Jerzy Janowicz, Grigor Dimitrov, Dennis Novikov and Bernard Tomic and Mikael Ymer

Thiem will be No 1 by May 2018
Nick Kyrgios will be No 2 by Sep 2018
Mikael Ymer will be No 3 by Dec 2018
Alexander Zverev will be No 1 by Dec 2018
