Great match from Roddick.Seems like the farewell inspired him.Served very good, was pretty aggressive (),went to the net a lot which was a great tactic against Tomug.
Tomug needs to start "eating grass" if he wants to become a player he was predicted to be.
I can see the future with crystal clarity. Roddick goes nuts and beats Djokovic in the quarterfinals then handles Isner in the semifinals. In the final Roddick faces Federer who comes back from a set down to win a fifth set tiebreaker at 18. In the interview after the match Roddick is hilarious and has everyone rolling on the floor!
Tomic was selling his lack of competitive spirit as sprezzatura for quite long now and many bought into it.
There is still a chance for him as he is fairly young but he has to bite the bullet, show desire and play with conviction.
I just want Andy to do well, and I think he deserves one more epic match against one of the top players. Win or Lose, I wouldn't mind as long as Andy put his heart and soul out there.
I agree that as a fan I will be content if he just gives it his all and plays smartly and agressively like he did today. but I think the other poster had a point. the form he had in this match was the likes that it takes to win the title. if he maintains a similar style and gameplan anything is possible, the sky is the limit. still bummed about this retirement deal though, but a good run here would sort of soften the blow

Hmm. I think people are going a little overboard with Roddick here. Yes, he played well - some decent volleying, consistent serving, penetrative forehands. But Tomic did totally give up in the third.
Has he got a chance of winning the tournament if he plays to the same level? No. He'll need to play better than this to trouble the favourites. Has he got a chance of beating Djokovic, if he gets far enough? Doubtful.
