USO R2: Dolgopolov def. Baghdatis 6-4, 3-6, 6-0, 7-6(7-5)

marcos really had every single oppertunity to take this to a 5th set. served for the set at 5-4 and got broken. Marcos then breaks back and falls into a 0-40 hole. He saves all 3 break points but gets broken anyway. Tiebreaker he's up a minibreak twice including serving for it at 5-4 but loses the next 3 points

Love Dolgopolov, that smash late in the fourth was awesome.
As for Baggy, kind of tired of him really. Nice he shows up but I never see him as a real threat.

What a shame, Marcos, how could you lose this one.

Gasquet is next №1

Yep, moronic from Baghdatis.

Serves for set, 30-0 up, thinks he has ace, challenged, then broken, with of course, a doublefault on bp.

Gets another chance to serve for set, chokes again.

5-3 in tiebreak, doesn't put away an easyish volley that would have given him double minibreak, gets passed. Two service points: doublefault and lame error. Then another error to lose the match.

A pair of real headcases, these guys. The rhythm of the match was just messed up.

Awesome save down 4-5 in the breaker though from Dolgo. Might have given him the match that one point.

The Djokovic draw just getting easier and easier. Tired Dolgo vs tired Wawrinka to decide who plays a fresh Djokovic in the fourth round.

Edit: assuming Wawrinka wins his match. Looks like it.

Dolgopolov looked the better and more dangerous player throughout this encounter, but Baghdatis did well to hang in there and took nearly every break point he managed to carve out. As said above though, he really should have taken the fourth set - so many chances thrown away. A shame, and yet again the Bag fails to get past the second round of the US Open.

I love Marcos and feel so bad for this loss. Dolgo with his stupid pony tale and silly game style is driving me crazy. Marcos is probably the most positive guy I've ever seen on the tennis court. I hate this loss. OK, I vented, I feel better now, lol..

the entertaining marcos i knew and loved years ago is no more. He plays high percentage, pushing tennis with mediocre serving games. He was just waiting for Dolgo's errors all day, and it was a shame to watch.

Dolgo should've won this in 3, his break point conversion before the 2 last breaks was atrocious, constantly letting Marcos off the hook. He played well apart from a few patches in the 2nd and fourth.
