Best passing shots?

Who is the best on tour at making passing shots?

I think it's close between Nadal and Murray.

Nadal >>>>>>>>>>>>>> everyone. He has the greatest passing shots in the history of the sport. Watching him defend like crazy, 3 metres behind the baseline then fire a brutal CC BH past some net rushing clown is the most amazing sight you can ever witness in this sport.

Haha no, attacking play > defensive play. Obviously.

Re: Best passing shots?

Djokovic's are pretty formidable. Thing with Murray's is he goes CC all the time and his DTL one is quite readable. Good, but not at Nole's level or Nadal on slow courts.

Hewitt's at his peak were pretty splendid as well.

Pushray DTL passers are a joke...in fact his forehand DTL is probably the worst shot in top 100.

Re: Best passing shots?

there's no such thing as passing shots these days.
To make a passing shot, someone needs to go to the net actually.

Right now it's Nadal, but peak Hewitt was pretty awesome. He was a nightmare for net players.

Hewitt passing shots are not on the same level as Nadal's. In fact, he lacked the proper technique and power to generate sick passes, instead relying on WTA lobs, which always got commentators to jerk off like crazy.

The likes of Henman and Sampras were great volleyers and he just ate them for breakfast at the net. It was scary how good he was back then, he'd thread through them like a needle.

Right now it's Nadal but he really doesn't compare to Hewitt when he was younger.

Dude have you considered a career in comedy? Your posts literally make me lol. But onto what you said, it isn't all about flashy passes, we're talking about the players with the best passing shots. Hewitt had to face better volleyers than Nadal has to face now. I still think Nadal is better, but prime Hewitt was fairly close to Nadal's caliber.

Re: Best passing shots?

Nadal, undoubtedly. Those soul-crushing passing shots that could switch the momentum of the match to his favor.

When you thought his opponent got the upper hand at the net, Nadal convincingly hit the passing shot very far behind the baseline. It's bread and butter for him.

Before him, it's Hewitt and then Federer.

Re: Best passing shots?

Nadal Djokovic and Murray all have great passing shots, but Nadal's banana shot the circles around on it's way down the line, that one is legendary and supremely annoying
