USO R1: GGL def. Monaco 3-6 1-6 6-4 7-6(6) 7-6(3)

GGL . Great that he came through, he has an entertaining game.

Both players were very tight at the end with GGL being twice a break up in the fifth and even served for the match. Monaco showing his usual choking tendencies as well, wasting a lot of break points with very routine errors and choked shots.

GGL took his chances in the fifth set breaker while Monaco played safe, which was the key difference in the end.

After Nadal beat Monfils at Doha, before AO 2014

Only Del Potro can take him out before the semis, and he won't. Nadal is winning the AO, bet your house on it.

Mugnaco leading 2sets to 0 and loosing, Garcia played great match in last sets, but most positive here is no points in ranking for Monaco just 10 for R1

YES! Tennis wins. Mugaco is such a bad player, 24-31 record in slams is a travesty for a "top 10" player.

What. A. Chokefest Monaco led 6-3 6-1 4-1 and lost the 3rd 4-6. In the 4th Monaco had a bp at 4-3* but failed to convert and lost the TB. In the decider GGL led 4-2, Monaco broke back 4-3, GGL broke again 5-3, Monaco broke back once again 5-4 and at 5-5 he had 2bp but again failed to convert and again lost the TB

The match was good but the drama made it better

Really entertaining match from what I saw. The play during the 4th set was pretty good until the tiebreak then it became a chokefest which was rather amusing. Monaco is one of the most overranked players on tour, glad he got beaten.

Well what a chokefest, this USO matches in round 1 had been such a dissaster.

LOL just realised there's another thread on this already but I ignored it cos it had Fognini in the title so I instantly connected it to the Roger-Vasselin match without reading properly
