I'm sure he ha a nice scholarship covering his college fees, I'm sure he's not in too much financial trouble.

If he accepts money he's earning money from the sport and hence he plays tennis professionally, and then can't play college. It's like this in most if not all sports, golf is like it.

I'd like to know how much money he'd turn down before he'd say screw it, turn pro and take the cash. 2 rounds? 3 round? 4?

thanks. never understood the difference between turning pro and not turning pro in player's profile, I guess this makes it a bit clearer to me.

Does anyone still want to question the strnegth of college tennis? He wasn't even a great player this year for UCLA.

Novikov was 10-5 in college this year. Lost to Daniel Nguyen of USC 3 times and lost to Slim Hamza 6-0 7-6 and to unranked(in college) Marton Bots.

He makes $37,000 if he loses 2nd round. I don't know his situation, but if I was him, I'd say fuck it and take the money and still train with the team off the books.
