Landers, care to explain why you think it will be Serra? On the official website it says 'Unknown' in the draw page.

Djokovic | Tipsarevic | Querrey

Refer to the links on post #24.

Besides, every tennis journalist on Twitter has said it will be Serra, I assume they know what they're talking about.

Not that I care much to be honest though: none of these qualifers will create any problems to JMDP at all.

Del Potro to drop 5 games max

The reason why people attended the Del Potro v Lu match at AO 2012:

Re: US Open R1 WWW: (LL) Florent Serra vs Juan Martin Del Potro

While I don't think any of the four can cause serious issues, as a person who intended to see del Potro in person tomorrow, Serra is easily the least interesting option. Rosol would bring some energy to the crowd, given the curiosity of Wimbledon; it'd also be a fascinating ball striking exhibition. Berankis is a player I've always been intrigued by due to size and scrappy style. I have no clue who Bautista-Agut is - I'm guessing a claycourter living off challengers but he did win 2 HC qualifying matches. Serra is a player who never interested me, has been the luckiest SOB this Grand Slam season and his game makes Delpo not have to do much.

Andy Murray: 2012 Olympic gold and silver medalist. US Open Champ. Wimbledon champ. Never been prouder of him.

The Brian Baker Story. Proof that truth is stranger than fiction... until Hollywood buys the rights and proceeds to keep screwing the script up.

Rosol and Berankis play exactly the kind of game JMDP easily dismantles; he'd just return their bullets with interest to the middle of the court and watch them pile the UEs as they'd be forced to go for too much. At least Serra, despite being a worse player, plays a kind of game that tends to cause JMDP some issues, he hates facing pushers.

I'm sure you'll still enjoy it. Still, a bit unfortunate for you that Nalby withdrew, would have been awesome to watch Delpo vs Nalby out.

This will be a one-sided rout, but you'll get to watch JMDP's awesome forehand live, that's always a great sight.

You're clearly overrating Del Potro. No way will this one dimensional ballbasher get 12 games against a much superior all-court talent like Serra, just no way

No I totally agree, I was joking Del Po is a nightmare match-up for ballbashers.

Fair enough

I agree that Delpo vs Serra will be boring, but seeing Del Potro routinely dismantle a one dimensional ballbasher yet again wouldn't exactly be very interesting either. The only way this first round could be exciting was if Nalby was healthy and hadn't withdrawn.
