Well, considering the conditions, the humidity, the wind, the rain delay that probably messed up up his prep, the bad play kind of understandable, but it was still horrible to watch. Still a straight set win which is still a positive sign. It has always been the criticism for him getting involved in long matches when he not playing his best, so good to get out of the first round relatively easily.

He actually played a lot of good/creative points, the highlight reel would look good. Just the other 9/10 points for every good point, those were torturous.

He still hit 46 winners... That's something. His serve however just isn't working atm.

On the plus side, for Andy, it's not going to get any worse.

Hopefully.

You know what they say about hope... It breeds eternal misery.

He never lost a first round match here before though. So at least it won't be his worst result ever.

Yep, for all the complaints +15 winners to errors on a windy day against good defender is not bad. His serve was just off.

Only Murray fans can see the silver lining of this match. The rest only saw a mugfest mixed with bad attitudes and faking.

I'm just glad Mandy got through without damaging himself, the performance in a 1st round match doesn't bother me. Made it look like the toughest 7 games lost in his career, though. We'll blame the winds.

So someone recently informed me that my sig was empty. Said I needed a life affirming motivational quote by a positive role model like Einstein or Oscar Wilde...

Great tip to stay fit and mobile: If you run up and down the stairs two steps at a time at least once daily, there will never come a time when you can't do it. Until of course one day you mistime a step, collapse and break all your bones... That would suck. But you had a good run.

Who cares really....was never gonna be a classic. You can't win a slam in 1st round but you can lose one. Andy is into 2r now and this match is already forgotten about.

Go Andy!

So very very proud to be a fan of Mr Andy Murray Wimbledon Champion 2013

Well, he won. That's all that really matters, for now anyway.

Re: US Open R1: Murray def. Bogomolov Jr 62, 64, 61

Some people overreacting, as usual. It wasn't Andy's best but taking everything into consideration, first match, windy, humidity, it was not that bad. He returned well and hit plenty of winners, just didn't seem to be totally focussed or enjoying himself.

The serve was obviously the main weakness and will have to improve alot. It is kind of wierd how he goes 6 games without getting broken, then suddenly guys like Bogomolov are breaking him for fun. I'm sure it will come good soon though.
