Both Nadal and Djokovic in their peak years would likely dominate Federer's era too (although it's impossible to say for sure), but never to the extent Federer did, which is quite unique in history.
Agreed.

Both Nadal and Djokovic at their best would appear to be better than almost all players active in 2004-6. However, neither of them at their peak has managed to play so well so consistently over such a long period. Nadal has been hampered by physical issues, otherwise, who knows? Djokovic, well, he's still got time to prove us wrong, but it looks unlikely he'll repeat the first half of 2011 again.

Re: Endless Era Debates

The fact that 30+ years old Fed is #2 and was #1 for a period of time in this supremely physical era where his rivals are 5-6 years younger than him, proves how immense he was at his prime. Peak Djokovic and peak Nadal is/was great, for sure. no denying that. But IMO, no one is better than peak Federer. He was just ridiculous.

Era debates are for clowns. 2004-2007 was the strongest era in history and the rest was a joke. I thought everyone knew this.

And what does player X owning player Y have to do with the topic of the thread?!

For the 100000000th time a player plays against the field not a single player. That type of silly, illogical argument that nadaltards hang on to is the same they use to say nadal is greater than Roger. This of course is utter nonsense.

Re: Endless Era Debates

Federer struggled on clay & lost 4 match points on rebound ace against Safin. Fed needed meltdowns from Baghdatis, Andreev, Falla & 35 yr. old Agassi., a recently banned Canas in 2007 beat him and Fed talked bitterly about finally "getting him" later in the year.
Federina rejoiced when pigeon Roddick choked AT 3 Wimbledons as well as the 2006 US Open 4th set at 0-40 chance.
Even Gonzalez was serving at 5-4 in the '07 Australian Open final & stunned Fed at Masters Cup.
He knew he would've lost a bunch of Slams if he had played more Davis Cup; he whined about exhaustion while no one else complained. He knew DjokerNadal would beat him if he reaches a Davis Cup semi; they're better than '03 Hewitt & '12 Isner, so Fed didn't want to cry uncontrollably once more.

Sampras says prime Fed and prime Agassi would go to 5 or 7

Sampras is obviously saying this because Agassi was his main rival. But lets get real. Roger would butcher a prime Agassi. Have a look at this:

So how many sets does it go over 5 when both are in their primes. I say 4 at most.

Discuss.

Agassi would win on real grass. Federer only won his Wimbledons on the slowed down green clay

well because you never watched Fed in his prime I will tell you that 35 year old Agassi took prime Fed to 5 sets and a year later he took him to 4 sets......US Open 2004 and 2005......also depends on the surface......

Prime Fed Vs Prime Agassi that should be very exciting to watch. It tough to call

GO Roger Federer, Nick Kyrgios, Borna Coric, Vasek Pospisil, Thomaz Bellucci, Kei Nishikori, , Milos Raonic, Jerzy Janowicz, Grigor Dimitrov, Dennis Novikov and Bernard Tomic

Borna Coric will be No 1 by May 2016
Nick Kyrgios will be No 1 by Jan 2016

Butcher? I doubt that. Federer is obviously the greater player but prime Agassi would be good enough to beat Federer on a slow hard court. Remember the Open final where Agassi pushed prime Federer to the limits for two sets. Agassi played as deep as Djokovic does, but hitting slightly flatter and definetely cleaner. Andre at his best could comfortably keep his opponents behind the baseline, including the sharpest of them all, Sampras.

Nope. Fast grass is the surface where Federer would most likely beat Agassi. On hard courts it would be a different story, prime Agassi would certainly give Federer more than a run for his money.
