Re: What kind of career would Nadal have in the 90's?

you're a clown trying to start a Nadal hate thread, but nonetheless:

Nadal would still dominate clay for obvious reasons, there were hardly any adept clay court players in the 90s (Courier and Muster were just not that good) up until the late 90s with Guga in particular.

Nadal would have many slams based on clay and many titles in general based on that

he might be able to squeeze in a hard court slam here or there given his work ethic (there are players with poorer hard court games than his, regardless of the court speed, who managed to win a random hard court grand slam in the 90s).

Wimbledon probably he would have no chance

a bunch of Roland Garros's, maybe a hard court slam, probably still very successful considering no matter what era (except maybe playing with Borg) Nadal would be essentially unstoppable on clay

<3 Roger Federer <3 David Ferrer <3 Juan Martin Del Potro <3 Ernest Gulbis <3

------------------------ <3 Richard Gasquet <3

Good comment Nadal may have snatched an AO. Other than that FO only. So he'd be on 8 slams by now at best.

I agree with this but I don't see your point in indicating how much worse Nadal would have been off in other eras... you could take any player (maybe bar Federer) and move them to a different time period and result in less success

Would still carve on clay. Dunno about where else though...maybe he'd snatch a HC slam.

RIP Henry Chinaski. A true MTF legend

He would be ranked below 150, where he belongs.

He'd own Sampras even more than he does Federer, horrible matchup for Pete I believe.

Hewitt was a bad match-up for Sampras, but they still had a close H2H

Nadal is a far worse matchup though, he'd absuse Sampras's backhand all day long. Not to mention his passing shots are probably the best in the game.

Who would win: prime Nadull or prime Steffi Graf on super fast 90's indoor hard court?

Sampras doesn't hit backhands. He just camps at net

Steffi Agassi in 2 blowout sets (or 3 if you're talking about a 3/5 set match)

Won't exactly help him as Nadal has some of the best passing shots in history, especially on the run/stretch. From the baseline, no chance for Sampras and consistent net rushing is unlikely to yield the desired results either, bad matchup for him here, even more so than for Federer.

Hewitt had great passing shots (though not as good) but he also possessed a great lob, but they had a close H2H
