It's a joke NOW

In the past, nobody sane watched shitty players like Hewitt and Roddick mug their way to slams. WTA was more interesting back then.

Actually not, but you missed the point. Lets see all these whiners saying Stakhovsky is number 96 in the world, is a scrub and shouldn't be saying anything at all. Jerriy explained it clearly, he is a council member and since he is lower ranked he can be bagged for these views which most of the male players agree with. The lower ranked males are better than their equivalents on the WTA. Men's sport is a greater draw globally or don't you get that.

Second of all if you don't understand what union politics are about. He is there to represent his members.

Women porn stars get more than males, gay males get more than straight ones. Why is this? That's because that's how that market works. In tennis the WTA gets subsidised with the joint events big time.
Oh god, your a mod and you bring Porn here, WOW. What a shame, your an embarrassment. You can make other comparisons with other sports but porn really. It's not that he shouldn't say anything at all, but his whining of WTA is taking away money from them is ridiculous. Which means that non-joint event gives more prize money than joint events why is that Shanghai a single ATP event gives out less prize money than Madrid a joint event. It's a proof that being separate or joint doesn't affect anything. Because even if they are separate events ala Toronto/Montreal which are actually separate events that doesn't affect the prize money. The more important causes are the increase of prize money in lower rounds and an increase in prize money in challengers and futures. And don't keep dragging the ranking here, cause that is immaterial, and no, he is not far greater than his female adversaries, the only reason why they ATP generate more crowd is because they have more stars than WTA. I don't think Stakhovsky will draw more crowd than a Lucic or a Bondarenko.

T-Doc showing his gloryhunter side again.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

If you can't see the correlation then that is your problem. You see the entertainment industry music, film industry in all its forms and all the branches of it they are paid what they are worth. Porn is no different from the fashion industry women models get more than males and they should. This and professional sports world do not operate in the same economic model as the regular workplace.

Already explained why the WTA are the ones that need the combined events more than the ATP. The greater exposure they get for the least amount of effort makes sense for them and why the ATP players aren't happy.

Not really - ATP was shit in early 2000's, that's a fact. It was akin to watching challenger level circuit today. Clowns like Hewitt winning slams and spending 50+ weeks @ #1. Ivanisevic and Rodmug fluking slams. Random mugs making slam finals. No real dominance at the top. It was not until mid-late 2000's that the men's game was stabilized. I am sorry, but watching useless journeymen take advantage of transitional era did not create a lot of exciting rivalries and good matches.

Here you go with your era bullshit again. Hewitt was fucking good. So was Safin. Infinitely better than watching any disgraceful WTA tennis anyway. Now go post in tennis forum where the little girls belong.

Anyway...era bullshit? Are you trying to argue against the fact that early 2000's was garbage, transitional era in ATP tennis? It was only when Olderer/Nadal came into picture when we saw an epic rivalry..a reason for debate. Epic matches. Shit, Olderer/Nadal 2006 Rome final beats the entire early 2000's era.

You don't end the year #1 twice and win 2 slams if you're not fucking good T-Doc. I don't care what era you play in. My point is anyway that men's tennis is always better to watch than women's tennis. Even if you watch two 3-year old boys pickig up a racquet for the first time it's better than watching Graffmug trying to hit a topspin bh.

Re: Stakhovsky: "The ATP is done with joint events"

Its silly to accept that both the ATP and WTA go through cyclical phases. 1998 to around 2004 was a great era for the WTA. And it far exceeded what was going on the ATP. The interregnum between the Sampras/Agassi era and Roger's arrival in 2003, may have had some decent players, but there were no great players.

Hewitt was decent, but hardly great.
Safin's 2000 triumph should have heralded a era of great tennis from him. It did not.

ATP always rated higher than the WTA globally and no the US isn't the world.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

The Hewitt/Safin rivalry was nothing to scoff at. Two opposite game styles. Hewitt the ultimate defender and Safin the ultimate attacker. Both schooled Sampy in the US Open final. If you couldn't appreciate Hewitt and Safin at their peaks you can't appreciate tennis. It's that simple.

So true. The fact that Steffi Graf won 22 slams playing with really only a slice BH says all you need to know about the WTA. Great slice or not it just does not reflect well on the skills of the other players.
