Mad Max saves mp to march into semis - d. Soderling 6-7, 6-4, 7-6

Max d. Gonzalez 7-6, 6-3

Well done Max!!

Max has won 4 matches in 5 days beating Gasquet, Hanescu, Arazi and Gonzalez in straight sets and he has won 12 of his last 16 matches. He plays Andy tomorrow who is coming back after a few weeks lay-off. This is their head to heads -

2003 Cincinnati SF Hard (O) A.RODDICK 6-7(5) 4-6
2003 Madrid 32 Hard (I) A.RODDICK 1-6 7-6(9) 5-7
2004 Cincinnati 64 Hard (O) A.RODDICK 7-6(5) 6-7(5) 3-6

Max has been very close to winning in their last two matches. With Max on a good run on these courts, can he finally edge out Andy?

Davai Max!

I'll root for The Beast tomorrow!
It might be a tough match for the Duckman, but he was very impressive against Sargsian, so Roddick shouldn't have too much problems with Mirnyi.

17 (yes, yes, yes!) Slams! And counting....

Mirnyi is unlikely to pull out a win, but he will either tenderise Roddick for future opposition or kickstart him into prime form.

Or maybe it will all descend into a four-hour plus baseline grind, finally decided by a flip of a coin. With no rally lasting less than ten strokes. Ahem. :retard:

I think Max has shown that he is capable of beating Roddick, Hopefully this time he will actually do it.

Well I think it's safe to say it'll be a tight match. Though Andy always seems to come through in the end, and he's the better player. Andy wins, probably in straights. Regardless of the outcome, nice week for Max though.

Fantastic - well done Max! It's nice to see him return to something like his normal form over the past couple of weeks.
