it's pretty obvious that tourney organizers will try to finish it indoor rather than cancelling it. hence my comment on indoor venues. given Toronto's winter climate I don't think they will struggle to find a proper structure to host the last rounds.

There are no Northern provinces, only territories.

Well, one could be forgiven for calling Newfoundland "Northern", couldn't one? But I could definitely have phrased that one better.

Toronto is at least pretty far south by Canadian standards.

the fact that I proposed 1000 pts to every remaining player in the draw should have been quite a hint at my trolling attempts

For sure. And yes, Toronto is pretty much to the Southern part of Canada. Our far-South is pretty around Detroit. You know, tropical Detroit...

There was a challenger last year in January in Réunion - located in the Indian Ocean, east of Madagascar - which was cancelled in the Quaterfinal stage giving 15 points to everyone, but I never heard that from an ATP 250/500 or Masters event

Then I remembered correct, thank you.

I read about such decision on Tour level in 80-s, but can`t remember anything more clear. It was time when I could have kept more similar information in head simulteneously...

Re: If Toronto is cancelled...

The majority of the players will move on to Cincinnati over the weekend, the vultures will stay in the underground parking lots sheltering themselves from this monsoon and continue on vulturing the rest of the points available in the tournament once the rains are over.

Credible sources tell me that once Daveed Ferrer learned about the meteorological situation in Toronto, he booked a first hour Monday morning flight to Toronto. He might still get in and snatch a few precious hundred points.
