MTF calling Toronto a vulture tournament

I don't think Toronto is a vulture tournament. It is not the same field as the other 1000 events but still far better than 500 events. It has 22 of the top 30, the same number as the one in Shanghai 2011. I also didn't hear any vulturing called on Federer for Rotterdam and Dubai.
The Dubai field yes had 8 of the top 10 but it only had 11 of the top 30. And the Rotterdam field had only 8 of the top 30. It's seems like MTF are so one-sided when it comes to this topic.

Re: MTF calling Toronto a weak tournament

but Toronto is a M1000, no the same with Dubai or Rotterdam, you expect Toronto to have almost all top players..but is not the case.

Roger Federer

Form is temporary, class is permanent

"The more you lose, the more they believe they can beat me. But believing is not enough, you still have to beat me" RF.

"He is capable of hitting shots which others don't even think about trying" Lendl on RF.

08/07/12 Eternal and immortal RF made H1S7ORY!

Also top players that went far in the olympics like Delpo goes out 2nd round, Tsonga might lose to Chardy. If Nole, Berdych or Murray don't win it a vulture might take it.

However, it seems like people are overrating the field that Dubai and Rotterdam had. Yes it doesn't have all the top players, but it's far from a vulture tournament, if it is a vulture event or a weak event you will not see seeds falling quite convincingly.

So it only becomes a vulture events when the top players fall. LOL, you really have a one-sided view. If it's such a vulture event then the top players shouldn't be losing, it means they need to still play pretty well to win their matches that is not a vulture tournament.

MTF calling every tournament weak if Federer is not playing. If Federer is playing AND wins it it's called the most difficult tournament in the world

You asked why Toronto might be considered a weak 1000 event and i think i explained it. Ad that 2 of the top 4 aren't playing

I wouldn't say its a vulture tourney but we could have a surprise winner for sure.

I was joking a little with the vulture part

I would love to see Milos or Isner win.

I definitely agree with that it's a weaker 1000 event and the chances of a surprise winner coming here than other Masters is bigger. I just don't like when mugs here call it a vulture event, just cause Federer and Nadal aren't there.

Re: MTF calling Toronto a vulture tournament

nah it's more interesting, with a greater variety of players reaching the latter stages/posting good results.

| Wins over 3+ of the Top 4. Players to reach all slam QFs+ in history. Hawkeye/Line Calls. QFs+ at Slams & Masters, but never Top 20.
Haas / The Fog / Tsonga / Brown / Mahut / Baker / Alund / Fed / Khachanov / Pouille / Tursunov / Copil / Bolelli / Brands / Benneteau / Gojowczyk / Steps / PHM
Rafter / Edberg / Henman / Stich / Safin / Gambill / Grosjean / Malisse / Gonzo / Llodra / Santoro / Agassi / Schalken / Nováček / Rosewall / H-T Lee / Kuerten / Boetsch / Pavel / Sundström / Björkman / Scud / El Aynaoui / Arazi / Calleri / Sampras / Nalbandian / Mosquito / Srichaphan

Re: MTF calling Toronto a vulture tournament

No i think it would be very difficult to vulture here. There are plenty of top 20 players around still good on HC. Anyway it will be stronger next year again.

Nadal and Ferrer aren't playing either, so it's even worse. That's 3 players from the Top 5 missing. Although, I think dencod16 was actually calling Toronto 2012 a weak tournament. It may actually be the Olympics' fault that this year has a weaker lineup.
