Toronto R1 : Stepanek def. Dolgopolov 6-3 6-1

Dolgo was probably fatigued after his Washington run. But i don't understand this era's so-called young players. I mean, i remember the late 90s and the early 2000s where guys like Rafter, Rosset, Rusedski etc. would go far in the tournaments. Yet, they would still have the energy to compete the week after. Not to mention the fact that finals of all the masters series events were best of 5. Plus, some atp events as well. And those guys were almost in their 30s. I really don't understand today's young guys.

Not the first time in recent time that a player does well in one tournament and loses in the first round the following week.

Happy for Radek. Maybe it`s his time to add Masters to his resume? Old school >>> youngsters.
Dolgo confirmed inconsistency once again, that`s pity.

Gasquet is next №1

Game was less physical back then and surfaces were much faster.

didn't look like fatigue to me. Looked like a complete lack of interest from Alexandr. Really horrible from him, he needs to grow some backbone.

Rafter won Toronto, Cincinnati, Long Island and US Open in a row in 1998, serving and volleying all the time. I wouldn´t call that less physical than today´s game.

Has Dolgopolov ever played two good tournaments in a row?

I don't think so.

It´s not that he played badly, he just didn´t care. He must have some serious attitude issues, who the hell tanks a TMS 1st round match, especially since some of the top guys are out or flown straight from the Olympics. Unbelievable.

He isn't obliged to put interest in every tournament, players play for themselves, not for teams .
