Re: Do you think bronze medal matches should be played

The real question should be why bronze match is not 5 set match?

It's medal fight and it should be 5 set match. Or fight for gold should be BO3

Let them fight for bronze!!!!!

Cause then even when they lose the semi, they still have something to come back to and fight for. Actually winning the bronze in a match for it, rather than getting it because they just lost the silver, must feel better!

I think that none of the combat sports have a bronze medal match - so boxing, wrestling, taekwondo etc.

All the racquet sports do. I don't see a particular reason why tennis should be different.

Re: Do you think bronze medal matches should be played

Yes bronze medal matches are the best "test of character" in sports. True fighters can always reload because you still take a medal for your country and you also "win" the bronze which many athletes like better than getting a silver by losing the gold.

Problem with bronze matches is that quitters sometimes bend over and take the 4th just like some players retire from matches when they can't win or only have a minor injury. But that is why it's a test of character.

Re: Do you think bronze medal matches should be played

Of course they should be played. Imagine MTF these last couple of days with only the Murray hype. Now we also have the Delpo hype (wouldn't be the same with only the tight match with Fed).

Not that I don't totally agree with the Delpo hype.

We can make a pewter medal for Nole (that's for 4th. place finisher).

Of course it should be played. In today's time when the world is in crisis and everybody trying to spare everywhere making one medal more is unnecessary cost
