What is the fifth slam?

What is the "5th slam", or does it even exist? I think no "5th slam" exists. To me, YEC feels too much like a tennis promoting event that doesn't have an permanent venue and has Round Robin to ensure each top player plays at least three matches. And OG is way too seldom to be very important. You can't blame a player if he doesn't win OG, you need some luck to be on the top of your playing in the OG year. And no Masters stands out as more important than other.

So, I'd vote no 5th slam exists, but I'll read some comments before voting.

Re: What is the fifth slam?

No such thing.

The fifth most important tournament however is the YEC.

Re: What is the fifth slam?

There is none. Slams are slams. No other tournament has the history or prestige to compete.

If you were to ask which tournament is most important AFTER the 4 slams I'd say WTF.

Agree

“There’s so many athletes, tennis players around the world,” he continued, trying to put his life into some kind of perspective, “they want to be the best in what they do. They want to succeed. Many of them, they don’t succeed in the end. I’m fortunate to have this opportunity and succeed.”

Re: What is the fifth slam?

Well, Newport, Umag, Casablanca & Houston obviously cannot be matched, they are the slams for a reason, but Wimbledon isn't far off them?
