GS winner trivia

Anyone with an idea of who has the longest losing streak heading into a slam, only for that guy to win that slam event?

Re: GS winner trivia

Probably someone who mugged up the clay season, and went on to win Wimbledon.

RAFAEL NADAL

Re: GS winner trivia

Not sure if the Hopman Cup counts, but Safin went 0-3 at the Hopman Cup in 2005 (and lost the semifinal of the 2004 Masters Cup), but ended up winning that years Ozzie Open.

Realistically, you'll be looking for a Wimbledon winner who had an abysmal clay season (and lost 1st round of Queens/Halle), or you have to search for an Ozzie Open winner who went 0-3 at the Masters Cup/WTF.

17 (yes, yes, yes!) Slams! And counting....

Djokovic lost his last 5 atp matches before he won the AO in 2008.

Was going to mention Safin - good spot.
Think you're right re Wimbledon or Aussie open being the best bets for this - Ivanisevic won 1 of the previous 5 matches he played before Wimbledon 2001 - think he'd have come close to the longest streak if he hadn't beaten Mirnyi first round at s'Hertogenbosch...

Andy Murray, Jonny Marray
Jamie Baker, Ross Hutchins, Richard Bloomfield, Colin Fleming
Roddick, Goffin, Karlovic, Inglot, Isner
Brown, Brands, Tsonga

This must be it. Can't believe anyone has more.
