You are the Promoter: The All time Championships

So, this as probably been done before and I apologise if that is the case, here's the scenario; You are the promoter of a All Time Championships of tennis, you can choose 16 players from tennis that you would put in one event on a surface of your choice (Mine will be Medium Pace grass to make it fair, grass being a surface played on by all). The players will be at their peak so you could go for simply the 16 best players (in your opinion) to fill the ranks, or maybe adapt the tourney to the surface (ie if you chose Clay reject Sampras and add Vilas or Guga). However as a promoter you could also go for the other option and chose some big rivalries, McEnroe may not be in the Top 16 of all time, but he would sure sell tickets! Add the draw and then predict the rounds, I must add in some cases here I couldn't decide who would win so I flipped a coin! Have fun!

All Time Championships
Surface: Medium Pace grass (Similar to Wimbledon of 2002-2007ish)
Draw for Round of 16 (I did this randomly, as names came to my head)

(1) Roger Federer vs. Ivan Lendl
(8) Bjorn Borg vs. Jimmy Connors
(6) Pete Sampras vs. Lew Hoad
(4) Don Budge vs. John McEnroe

(3) Bill Tilden vs. Ilie Nastase (WC)
(5) Roy Emerson vs. Rafa Nadal
(7) Pacho Gonzalez vs. John Newcombe
(2) Rod Laver vs. Ken Rosewell

Standby:
Fred Perry
Andre Agassi

I can't decide who would win, my money would be on Don Budge or Federer with Borg being a dangerous luker. What do you think, and who would you choose? Nastase, McEnroe and Connors were added to boy up the intrest and entrainment of the matches, Perry, Agassi, Vines and others would have legit shouts for the tourney.

first i thought you must really like lendl to clone him. but then i saw you have him play fed and rod - that's just cruel man.

Re: You are the Promoter: The All time Championships

Why does Fed's half have both Sampras and Borg in it plus McEnroe?

PAW Singles Ranking - 396
TITLES (TMS Rome 04', Rolland Garros 04', Wimbeldon 04')
RUNNER-UP (Rosmalen 04' US Open 04')

Budge would be more of a threat for me, put it this way, he avoided Tilden, Pacho, Laver, Emerson and Nadal, amazingly he might have the easier half. I based the seedings on what I see as the best 8 players ever.

Antarctica can host it and the surface would be ice, with penguins having free tickets.

I'd replace Emerson, Newcombe, & Hoad with Agassi, Cochet, & Laurie Doherty, I think.

Re: You are the Promoter: The All time Championships

32 draw would be preferred, with time machines to bring players back from the dead and blast from the past.

Medium surface speed and bounce. Draw:

(1) Federer vs. (32) Vilas
(16) Cochet vs. (17) Riggs

(8) Borg vs. (25) Wilander
(9) Nadal vs. (24) Edberg

(4) Rosewall vs. (29) Newcombe
(13) Connors vs. (20) Larned

(5) Gonzales vs. (28) R. Doherty
(12) Perry vs. (21) Kramer

(11) Vines vs. (22) Wilding
(6) Sampras vs. (27) Hoad

(14) Agassi vs. (19) L. Doherty
(3) Tilden vs. (30) Lacoste

(10) Lendl vs. (23) Becker
(7) Budge vs. (26) Djokovic

(15) McEnroe vs. (18) W. Renshaw
(2) Laver vs. (31) Baddeley

No Federer? I'd replace Milos with Fed.
