Who has been the Best tactical Player in the last two decades?

Well, the Tactical Player would not actually blow you away from the Court ala Sampras,Safin

But he will outplay you by playing deep, Topspin you, Volley you out,Grind you Out and so on.

These are the Players that come to my Mind

Andre Agassi

Jim Courier

Stefan Edberg

Patrick Rafter

Gustave Kuerton

LLeyton Hewitt

Rafael Nadal

Andy Murray

David Nalbandian........................................ .........Nottttttttttttttttttttttt

Who Else?

Re: Who has been the Best tactical Player in the last two decades?

Wouldn't call Nadal tactical, he just slowly makes you go crazy and breaks you down. A real demolition job, only one who really plays with the opponent is Murray. He just isn't as succesful as the other guys.

Federer can play like this as well, but he also has the power to blow you away, but usually against poor movers he kills you with funky short and deep slice shots

Back in 2008/09 Murray was astute in this regard. His tactics even worked against Federer and Nadal, and you could see his clear game plan against both. It is rare for someone to play so differently like that.

I don't know but apart from Murray, probably not one of the top-players.

I would rather say Santoro for instance.

Brad Gilbert was great tactically but I don't think he's part of the last two decades in the OP's mind : he rather was a player of the 80s, and then we could say Wilander as well ...

I've heard Gilles Simon is a tactical mastermind.

I also thought of him but the initial definition sounded more like Santoro ... who was also a great tactician.

I even know he had notes about every player he had faced on his computer and some players wanted to read these notes

Re: Who has been the Best tactical Player in the last two decades?

nadal has no place up there
he never showed a plan b against djokovic- 7 finals lost in a row

murray 2008 springs to mind for me-

God is Love. To know Love is to know God. So ask yourself if you hold any hate for another in your heart how can you have room for Love, room for God
