This. I don't see any serious competition for #1 from the youngsters for the next 2/3 years.

Assuming Roger loses the #1 ranking later this year (just an assumption) there will be at least 104 weeks at rafole disposal, if not more.

I guess it will depend on how they share the time at #1.

P.S.: Of course I would love for Roger to mantain the #1 until the end of 2012 and until Wimbledon 2013. It's not that farfetched really.

Nadal, maybe if Novak cannot hold onto the blue clay dominance ie hard courts. If Murray's balls grow a bit bigger and he acquires a consistent FH (not happening), he could pose a threat for at least one year.

Unlikely. Nadal is declining & Djoker's motivation is flagging.

Then who will step it up besides Roger?

Unfortunately, I think Rafi's counter has settled already.

When you have 237 weeks at number two (Nadal), it's hard to have over 200 weeks at number one.

Nadal is a great number two, same level as Chang.

Federer: Future number one.

Fed vs Rafa

Wimbledon: 7-2
U.s open: 5-2
AO: 4-1
FO 1-9
WTF: 6-0
Weeks at number one: 302-140(about)

Really no contest

2 more years for nadal and 3 more years for djokovic means total 5 more years at the top of ranking ....unlikely!!

Also considering no one else will be on top of the ranking during that period.

Are you sure about 237? The ATP records page on Wikipedia says 241. I do not trust that one completely so I'm just checking to see if your stat is better.

Lendl is closest, he is given 139 weeks at #2. Amazingly, before 1999 he had most weeks as #1 AND most weeks as #2. Lendl thus still tops the "most weeks at top-2" list.

Chang is not at top-10 for most weeks at #2. Here is the list (according to Wikipedia, could be errors):

1. Rafael Nadal 241
2. Ivan Lendl 139
3. Boris Becker 136
4. John McEnroe 113
5. Björn Borg 105
6. Stefan Edberg 104
7. Roger Federer 92
8. Pete Sampras 90
9. Jimmy Connors 88
9. Andre Agassi 88

The site I'm using for that stat may not have been updated recently. 241 is probably correct. I don't want to link the site as it's a great site and I don't want it to lose it reputation.

Yeah, but all those players ranked number one at some point. Chang might hold the record for a player who didn't rank number one. Chang has 49 weeks by the way, I just checked that using his ranking history on ATPWorldTour.com.

Certainly they did. Interesting about the Chang stat. I can think of no other "peak #2" with more weeks.

Becker is the closest competitor to Nadal for most weeks #2 subtracted weeks as #1, with 124 more as #2, but Nadal beats him with his 139.
