Well done to Ferrer. That's 16 career titles now, 5 titles for the year so far, and his 2nd title at Bastad. Plus he now has a positive record in ATP finals again, having won 16 out of 31.
Almagro had not looked convincing at all during his run to the final, and was in not in the right shape, form or frame of mind to even challenge his arch-nemesis today.
His best chances to beat Ferrer were at Cincinnati in 2006 (when he had 6 match points at 5-4* in the 2nd set), the Valencia final in 2008 (when he was leading *5-2 in the 3rd set) and at Madrid this year (when he had 3 match points in the 3rd set tiebreak).
However Ferrer has only dropped 11 games in their 3 matches at Bastad, destroying him in the 2007 final and the 2011 semis as well.
Lenders Give Pics a break mate. He is hardly the worst thing to happen to this sport, he seems a decent fellow, works hard for his results, has a really good record against fellows not names Nadal and Federer (has infact beaten Nadal twice at Slams!) Come on already
Ferrer Thanks for the social service act. Always good when Almagro loses
"In my opinion he's the best player ever. When you play tennis, playing Federer is kind of a dream because you can see he does everything you would love to do on the court" - Fabrice Santoro
