Oscar Hernandez??

Happy All Hallows Eve to those who celebrate it

Now this has been driving me nuts!! Oscar Hernandez has to be one of the quietest top 100 players I've ever come across. The first time I ever saw his name in the rankings he had already broke the top 100 and I didn't know who the heck he was. He's recently fallen back out due to not defending the points that got him in the top 100 but he's getting back up there.

All I know about this guy is his weekly ranking and looking at his results now and then. Does anyone on this forum know anything about how this guy plays?

PAW 2013:
Munich - 2nd place
Halle - 4th place
's-Hertogenbosch - 4th place
GSTAAD - WINNER

Re: Oscar Hernandez??

Oscar Hernandez is just a typical Spanish claycourter.. Nothing special really. A very timid guy off court as well, but friendly

Re: Oscar Hernandez??

Oscar Hernandez is clearly a typical Spanish claycourter, but I believe he has some potential on hardcourts, as well, if he gives it a try. He has an excellent serve and solid forehand and is a fighter on court, which certainly profits him on clay. If he is timid, I don't know... I watched him against Luis Horna in Acapulco earlier this year and he really busted out at the lines judge after he footfaulted him saying (Spanish speaker please forgive my grammar...): "Que pasa contigo, señor?? Todo el partido estas durmiendo y ahora despertaste!! PORQUE??". In English that is something like "What is going on with you, sir? You have been sleeping all match, and now you woke up? WHY??" I was watching the match with some of the Spanish tennis girls (Parra,Marrero,Sanchez Lorenzo) and we had a very good laugh, at least. Earlier he had been screaming out his disgust with the strong Mexican sun (!) so I don't know how timid he is.

Re: Oscar Hernandez??

Hernandez has to be one of the worst players I've seen. Up there with Burgsmuller, Tenconi and the like. He doesnt have any big shot and his serve is nothing special, cant do anything at net either. He struggles to even keep the ball in court too. Most of the time I've seen his results on the ATP tour its always easy losses. I'm amazed he even reached the top 100.

When he comes to Australia, he is out visiting all his fans on Johnston St in the Spanish quarter and he is all about peaking for Wimbledon and the backhand below will get it done on grass.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".
