Watch him win Bastaad against a Challenger level field this week again to keep securing his inflated ranking

Re: Name me some top 100 players who are notorious point vultures

When are you considered to be a point vulturer? I mean yes players like Feliciano Lopez always have a couple of weeks in a year where they reach big points. MS QF/SF / get far in a Slam but never win titles.

Is that kinda player more or less of a point vulturer than for example Raonic who wins 3 titles in 1 1/2 season but never gets to QF of big tournaments?

Re: Name me some top 100 players who are notorious point vultures

Not sure how Ferrer's ranking is inflated. Comparing his to Tsonga.

Code:
	Ferrer	Tsonga
Slam	1620	1620
ATP1000	1635	1555
ATP500	1025	505
ATP250	750	750
WTF	400	800
Total	5430	5230
That's what their ranking points made up of. If Ferrer wins Bastad, he will gain about 25 pts for his ranking.

What's wrong with top players playing these events? The fans in Bastad get to see Ferrer now.

Paradorn Srichaphan
Kei Nishikori, Donald Young, Somdev Devvarman, Dustin Brown, Steve Johnson, Yannick Maden
Robert Farah, Clement Reix, Alexander Dolgopolov, Nathan Thompson

That's money vulturing actually.

Apparently he got a nice 6-figure appearance fee.

The wrong thing is that Ferrer at the age of 30 is easily slapping around all youngsters, including Del Potro, and few more, which is a very wrong thing for their fans

“There’s so many athletes, tennis players around the world,” he continued, trying to put his life into some kind of perspective, “they want to be the best in what they do. They want to succeed. Many of them, they don’t succeed in the end. I’m fortunate to have this opportunity and succeed.”

Re: Name me some top 100 players who are notorious point vultures

All these greedy vultures are preventing up and coming players from having their breakthroughs. What's Isner doing in Newport ? His presence there may have cost Goffin his opening match...knowing that he probably would not win the tournament with the likes of Isner in the draw was probably a demotivating factor and partly responsible for his loss to the Becker in R1...

Unfortunately vultures are great for these small tournaments. They put them on the tennis map. I'd pay to see Isner in Newport

Re: Name me some top 100 players who are notorious point vultures

Ridiculous thread.

Tournaments are there to be entered by anyone.

Anyone who thinks Lopez is playing a Challenger for a boost in ranking points or money is a nutcase.

Next thing will be a thread asking why the top four keep entering slams instead of letting up and coming players have a breakthrough.

It is a smart choice ranking point wise, but one that only a point vulture would make.
8 of the top 10 players went to Dubai probably because of the enormous appearance fees they were paid to just show up. Ferrer may prefer the comfortable atmosphere of Acapulco to being the bought property of a desert sheikh. Good for him.

I think that just shows that it often is not even worth bothering playing such low events for a top player because the motivation will not be there

<3 Roger Federer <3 David Ferrer <3 Juan Martin Del Potro <3 Ernest Gulbis <3
