Then there was his classy intrusion in 2009, when, prior to the final, all the news should've been about Fed breaking Sampras' record, winning his first French Open and completing a career slam in the process. Instead of waiting till Monday, the day after the tournament, he felt compelled to breathlessly announce that he might be unable to play at Wimbledon, two weeks hence. Whatta scumbag...
No, he did not make excuses before the tournament. He said he was scared he did major damage to his knees but that in the end it was simply a scare and now a major impediment.
As for 2009, I don't know what Federer has to do with Nadal's individual career, so I fail to see the relevance there.
