Exactly. Their logic is so fallible.

And people forget that not only Federer is 30, actually 3 quarterfinalists at Wimbledon are 30 or near 30 as well.

But your logic is that 3 players make an era, so that is extremely hypocritical.

And the fact that there are other players close to 30 in the Wimbledon quarter-finals doesn't change the fact that Federer is very far from his best.

Re: The truth is

'03 australian open - nalbandian beat federer

us open - injured nalbandian beat federer

roddick saved match point vs. nalbandian
year end championships - roddick choked with 3-0 lead in the 3rd set vs. schuettler

hewitt beat federer after 2 set & break deficit
--------------------------------------

2006-2012 - roddick won whopping 2 masters titles,
lost all davis cup & olympic matches vs. top 10 opponents.

he forgot to bring his rackets on court before a wimbledon match.

2006 - roddick lost 3 straight matches

ferrer, del potro, murray, berdych & tsonga dominated roddick.

2008 - roddick injured his neck, showed up with opponent in cincinnati & quit before playing

- he choked while serving for the japan open semi vs. berdych
- roddick choked while leading in the 3rd set of paris vs. tsonga

roddick's in the 2009 wimbledon final choke
2012 - lost 6 straight matches

------------------------------

2004-2012 - 1 slam
safin won 2005 ao, after saving 4 match points. federer hit shot between legs

'04 miami - roddick saved match point vs. injured gicquel
down 3-5 vs. moya in the 3rd set

'04 wimbledon - roddick lost 17 break points

he beat nadal in 2004, was humiliated in the 1st round in the french open and us open,
insulted djokovic about having 16 injuries then choked in his home country.
federer said djoker was not suffering badly from health problems
and that roddick deserved the win in 2009 australia after losing the first set.
federer backtracked and said "i
don't know" about the circumstance.
---------------------

in 2011, federer felt exhausted before beating hewitt on davis cup grass.

he lost to bryan/fish and isner at home on clay in davis cup tie.

at wimbledon, he spent a whole day telling bbc & abc that he laughed for 10 minutes because rosol hit winners and "nadal could do nothing to win".

suddenly, fed was exhausted & called for medical assistance. he beat malisse quickly.
federer admitted he wasn't "injured" after the qf.

federer never saved match points before winning slams and titles: grass, outdoor hardcourt + clay courts.

2004-2012 - robredo, ljubicic, davydenko, safin won 5 total masters titles

----------------------

berdych, tsonga and djoker beat federer despite not playing their best at '04 olympics, masters series, '10 wimbledon, '11 wimbledon & '11 us open.

healthy nadal & djoker whipped roddick in masters cup & us open
nadal destroyed roddick on grass.

nadal & djokovic have 16 majors
7 straight french opens for nadal

djoker - 43 straight wins, 5 masters titles in a year
djoker beat healthy multiple title winners and higher ranked players for 4 slams than federer, & had 12-4 record in 18 months against fedal.

Re: The truth is

Federer's results against the best 10 younger players except those three we know: Berdych 11-4, Tsonga 8-3, Del Potro 12-2, Tipsy 5-0, Isner 3-1, Almagro 5-0, Simon 2-2, Monaco 4-0,
Monfils 6-1, Verdasco 4-0.

Overall 60 to 13. It’s about the same percentage against his generation, ~ 84% vs 82%. Hope that settles it.

Stop trying, Federer has declined, you're making yourself look ridiculous trying to argue otherwise.

I don't care if I look ridiculous to you, that's your best argument?
I'm stating facts, whether you want to see them or not.

I'm telling you I don't need an argument, it's so blatantly obvious. Go ahead though, post your numbers if you want, it's amusing.

Except it doesn't really settle anything.

Federer is an extremely talented player - so even with decline he should be able to beat players of a younger generation who are good but not good enough to compete for the #1 spot. Against the absolute best of the younger generation however he should logically struggle. And that is exactly what your stats show.

Bizarre selection of players. You include Simon, Monaco and Verdasco, and not Soderling for instance?

Besides, many of those matches came with Federer still in his best years and those guys still too young to stand up to him. Especially true with Fed vs Berdych, which is a very even matchup nowadays (3-3 in their last 6 matches).
