It's because MTF use the fractional system as starting point. Wawrinka wasn't really 0,22 (or 1,22), he was 11/50. The decimal is just a translation of this fraction used as a visual aid. Payouts will follow the fractional, not the decimal (can be rounding differences).

Bookies also use 11/50 (instead of 61/50) when they describe 1,22 fractional. To be honest, I never understood why they do this, I'd have thought it would be more logical to do like MTF and give 11/50 and 0,22, or possibly 61/50 and 1,22.

Are tennis players allowed to train after they are eliminated?

This might sound like a stupid question, but lets suppose a player plays two tournaments in the same country (for example Futures F3 and F4 in Venezuela).

If this player loses in qualies in sunday and at doubles monday, can he still trains tuesday-wednesday-thursday in the same place F3 is happening after being eliminated in singles and doubles?

Also lets suppose he decides to leave the club tuesday. Can he already start training in the place of F4 at tuesday the week before the tournament?

Thanks for the info.

Divas cried for reserved courts so toothless praisers could send Twitter messages for fawners to like.

Cake eaters took exhibition matches seriously against proper tennis players, and whined about undeserved send offs for their 'accomplishments'

Frauds in freefall? Future in Futures?

Re: Are tennis players allowed to train after they are eliminated?

probably differs depending on venue, size of tournament, # of courts, etc.
obviously they can accommodate you probably if you lost in a later round because there would be fewer players hanging around but otherwise you would have to imagine that the practice courts would be booked by those still in the tournament and obviously anyone playing singles or doubles would have the automatic right to use the courts

depends

I remember seeing also a video in which an argentine player (i think it was Martin Vassalo Arguello) wants to train but the court is occupied by two club players. I think it was on England. :lmao:

Re: S.Q.T. (stupid question thread)

What happens if they run out of space to engrave a players name on a trophy?

After all, history only tastes bitter to those who expect it to be sugar coated

If the original trophy runs out of space, I guess they would have to make a new one.

The (generally smaller) replica would run out of space faster. Wimbledon increased the size of the replica in 2007 from half to three-fourths of the original(in terms of height). So, Federer would actually have two different sizes of Wimbledon trophies. 2009 onwards, the bigger one ran out of space too. Instead of reducing the font size, they give the replica with an extra base/plinth.

For Wimbledon, the same is true even for the actual trophy. This year, they ran out of space and Murray didn't see his name on the trophy when he got it. He later found out that it was written on the base!

In some sports they change or add a base to engrave more names.

Check NHL champions' Stanley Cup:

Before 1940s:

2008:

Stan Wawrinka
2014 Australian Open Champion | 2014 Monte Carlo Masters Champion | 2015 French Open Champion

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga

Re: S.Q.T. (stupid question thread)

^As I mentioned earlier, same holds for the replica(the one the winner gets to take home) for the Wimbledon trophy since 2009. You can see the names engraved in the base:

Since this was the first year when the problem happened in the actual trophy, I guess we will have to wait till next year to see whether they add the same to the actual trophy too.

Maybe this was a case of the same:

Re: S.Q.T. (stupid question thread)

In Tennis Tipping, can an ALT get into the main draw even if he didn't get into the qualifiers?

For example, if someone doesn't send in picks for the main draw and the LLs don't either, who is next in line? - the ALTs who lost in qualifiers and didn't make LLs, or the ALTs who didn't get into qualifiers at all?

Previous interviews suggest they feel they need more matches on hard ahead of the USO.
