Re: Rafael Nadal: Clay Warrior's Hunt for 50 Clay Titles

Ok. So many have weighed in with their opinions... maybe yes, maybe no.. that's good

So where do you think clay title #37 comes?

Nadal went out early at Wimbledon. Could he play Hamburg after his exho with Djokovic, or would that be foolish with the Olympics on grass at Wimbledon? He would have a week after the Hamburg tournament to go back to grass practice.

Are there any other clay tournaments he might play this year, or is it goodbye to clay until 2013?

Respectfully,

arkulari is probably right unless he decides to play hamburg.

i think he needs to play hamburg to keep some match play going without putting much pressure on the knees.

he has his chances at the open only if he plays hamburg and practices more on clay between now the the u.s. open.

odd timing for this thread: clay is pretty much over & I don't know why anyone would want to talk about it with other, more interesting things going on. Just my two cents... carry on.

Re: Rafael Nadal: Clay Warrior's Hunt for 50 Clay Titles, #37 comes where?

insane comment. So if he plays more on clay he has better shot at USO? Goodness gracious. He needs to just rest up now. He has been complaining about playing a lot for 3 months way too many times. He should just go into hibernation for 3 weeks. Practice one week hard on grass with his buddies and then play olympics. est up and then play canada and cinci. What did winning and playing so much on clay get him anyway at halle and wimbledon? Playing with inferior competition on a clay court in a meaningless tourney is not the way to aim for a 12th slam on a hard court - not for nadal.

Clay is practically over so how is this interesting now? Is Nadal coming to Båstad? I think he has bad memories from when he came to Sweden last time trying to claim Stockholm Open and a comeback-ing Pim-Pim took him out in straights...in R16 of a 250 Now all 250s can just invite Rosol and no title for Nadal

Maybe it's more appropriate now to talk about this...
Looks like his various knee injuries may have forced his hand to maximize his chances on clay.
Looking doable if he plays the Golden Swing until 2016.
Does #37 come at Vina del Mar?

Re: Rafael Nadal: Clay Warrior's Hunt for 50 Clay Titles, #38 comes where?

Well it didn't happen in Vina del Mar. But Clay title #37 came his way in São Paulo... Congrats to him and all his fans.

Many people were not expecting this so soon after a 7 month layoff. Even Mr. Nadal said David Nalbandian was the favorite to win, but it's Nadal. You still have to step on the court, put the effort in, and beat him and forget some of his psychological warfare.

Nalbandian was also gone from the tour since August last year, and his first final since the infamous day at London Queens Club. So congrats to him for making it to a final and withstanding the unfavorable crowd without incident.

Will #38 be his in the stronger field at Acapulco?

Respectfully,

Ferrer is the current 3 time defending champion at Acapulco and the higher ranked player.
Ferrer has to be the favorite, no?
