Re: Unofficial Live ATP Rankings [in Post #1]

If Ferrer beats Almagro (likely) he will have a 1465pts lead over Nadal.

It will be almost impossible for Rafa to catch him before RG (and maybe even Wimbledon), so, who wants Rafa in the R5 at RG? Djokovic? Federer? Murray?

Rafa - Murray QF, Rafa - Federer SF and Rafa - Nole F would be awesome...

Re: Unofficial Live ATP Rankings [in Post #1]

For the seed for Roland-Garros, Ferrer is more than 3000 points ahead of Nadal.

Yes, it will be extremely hard for Nadal to get a top-4 seed in Roland-Garros (and he might have tougher draws than previous years in tournaments before Roland-Garros because of his lower seed)

Don't know if it has been noted but Seppi will reach the top-20 for the first time of his carreer (number 18)

Yeah, Nadal has to defend 3310 points, whilst Ferrer about 1075, because even if he doesn't go to any ATP 250, ATP 500 tournaments, his points don't drop out, except those that exceed 250 points. He has one 500 and one 300 = 250 + 50 = 300 points dropping. The other 775 points are from Mandatories. The difference between them now is 1465.

3310 - 1075 + 1465 = 3700 points must Nadal do without Ferrer defending any point. 4775 if Ferrer defends all points.

What does that mean actually? Nadal must score 3 Masters titles and win a bunch of 250s and 500s to secure his Best 6. Possibly also good results at the other 2 Masters. He doesn't play at one of them, so the mission gets even harder.

We should be getting used to the fact that Nadal is NOT gonna be 4th seed at RG.

If Ferrer does not go to any 250 or 500, he loses 250 + 50 + 160 = 460 points. The additional 160 points come as the 250 from Buenos Aires will be replaced by 90 from Doha/KL. (Acapulco, Barcelona, Buenos Aires -> Auckland, Bastad, Doha.)

fixed.
I wouldn't be surprised if Nadal is not seeded 4th(or better) even at USO. Anyway, we are in for some interesting QFs(TMS & GS) this year

So, now it's 1235 points for Ferrer to defend.

3310 - 1235 + 1465 = 3540 points must Nadal do without Ferrer defending any point. 4615 if Ferrer defends all points.

and some more if Ferrer does better than last year, which is entirely possible.

Re: Unofficial Live ATP Rankings [in Post #1]

Career highs reached in the last two weeks:

Seppi-18(19 if Chardy beats Murray)
Chardy-25(18 if he beats Murray,16 if he reaches the final, 10 if he wins AO )
Guido Pella-78(could be 79/80)
Donskoy-68(could be 69/70/71/72)

Wasn't there a thread about this?

Re: Unofficial Live ATP Rankings [in Post #1]

The ATP guys are giving me something new to work on. The Bucaramanga Challenger does not and will probably not have the main draw posted, because they're only using the Combo. I must find a way to have the Combo parsed as a means of last resort, otherwise this tournament cannot be live updated.

Re: Unofficial Live ATP Rankings [in Post #1]

If Murray loses in the SF, the rankings gap between Ferrer and Murray would be lesser than that between Ferrer and Nadal.

Since Ferrer became #4 because of Nadals injury absence, it is easy to forget how well he has done in the past year. (Even if Murray reaches the Final, and loses there) Ferrer is closer to Murray than Murray is to Roger. And since both Murray and Ferrer are defending about the same number of points going into RG there is a reasonable chance that Ferrer closes this gap. Overtaking Murray would be extremely tough. For any (reasonable) chance for this to happen Ferrer would have to win his SF and Murray lose his.
