Not really a" correlation" but last 3 years(2009) , he hasn't played both September davis cup and Shanghai Masters in the same year.

I know that Shanghai Masters exists only since 2009

Synchronized with official rankings.

Awesome news. My live rankings were 100% accurate this week. All 1932 players were predicted with no mistake.

Re: Unofficial Live ATP Rankings

Thanks for providing these great stats.

Although players rarely seem to enter tournaments on short notice just to improve their ranking, this time I think Federer should determine his late-season schedule based on how close Djokovic is. A 6th YE#1 is not something to take lightly. He can always take extra rest next year.

I think it's not only about rest, the Shanghai problem has typically been about his family first (Mirka and babies don't come there with him, I also remember that the Swiss newspapers said he didn't go to play DC in Kazakhstan because Mirka wanted him to stay with her), and he has planned a heavy exhibition schedule in South America (where he has never been, that's why he did that) in the end of the year.

I think when he spoke last week about being a daddy now and all, it also meant that : it's about the "big picture" and his body, but also about his family life.

that doesn't give Istomin a seed unfortunately.

Re: Unofficial Live ATP Rankings

Federer will not play in Tokio or Beijing (at least not in the entry list).

He play this year Dubai, Rotterdam, Olymics and Davis. And he will play Basilea almost certainly. He can compute 0 points from Tokio/Beijing or he can compute Dubai/Rotterdam/Olympics and best result between Davis (10, maximun 25) and Basilea?

he should get a zero for Tokyo/Beijing (that is replacing the zero from last year for the same tournament) as he has only played 2 ATP500 tournaments in the calendar year and then he won't be able to play 4 ones if he doesn't play Tokyo/Beijing.

The Olympics and Davis cup are not taken into account for the commitment to playing 4 ATP500 tournaments in the calendar year (contrary to Monte-Carlo)

useless old guy

Re: Unofficial Live ATP Rankings

Ok guys, i need some confirmation. I've tried playing with the numbers...

As a fed fan, if he wants to end the year as number 1, he needs to at least win the USO and defend his points form the indoor season (he has most points to defend)

on the other hand, after the USO, djokovic has the most to gain due to his lackluster performance during the indoor season in 2011. and he'll even play beijin which may be an automatic 500 pts for him

assuming that both will meet in finals in events that both will play, fed needs to win at least USO, 1 Masters, Basel, and WTF to end 2012 as number 1

Djokovic have an advantage of 165 points in the 2,012 if Roger have 165 point more than Djokovic in the rest of the year, he will be No.1. Don't care who many points they defend.

Re: Unofficial Live ATP Rankings

I am very sorry for the delay in updating the rankings, but I'm working on an improvement on the Live Rankings system, which I will not disclose for the time being. Be sure that it's gonna be worth it though.

Another announcement is that I'm going to be away this Saturday and Sunday, so there will be no updates on these two days.
