Favorite Grandslam of 2004

What are you guys favorite grandslam of this year.
Include things like competition, suprises, quality of matches, individual player performances ect.

My favorite slam was the French Open. Specifically the Mens Final. It was so Topsy Turvy. I like 99% of the world thought Coria would win in straights. Then in the 3rd set the whole stadium started doing the wave which renewed Gaudio's confidence. THat sent gossebumbs down my spine. Coria's cramps and the turtle like movement of Coria in the 4th set was unbelievable.

THe worst would be the U.S. Open. I have always hated Flushing Meadows. I just hate the stadium. It is ugly and I hate the high walls behind the players. The Final was horrifically one sided and boring. Overall no match stands out to me, except the Federer /Agassi Quarterfinal. To bad Agassi and Fed weren't on opposite sides of the draw. Because to me their quarterfinal together was like the Final.

Any opinions...

Roland Garros definitely!

As a fan of the unseeded guy who won, I had been waiting for this moment for so long....and he did! You may think he won because Coria wasn't fit enough, I don't care. I'm used to hear or read such stuff. What matters to me is that he went back home with the trophy he had been dreaming upon since he was a little boy!

Best of LUCK to ALL my Faves in 2015

Re: Favorite Grandslam of 2004

The Australian Open for me- it had the most number of high quality matches IMHO. Especially Marat's matches and Roger's leading up to the final, though the final itself was disappointing somewhat in terms of quality.

If you could have the pre-final matches of the AO and top it off with the FO final I think that would be perfect

Re: Favorite Grandslam of 2004

They were all brilliant in different ways...

Aus Open - the continuing dominance of Federer and a great return for Safin and Canas.

French Open - 1 Brit and 3 Argies in the semis - quality! Who would have thought Coria would bottle it too?

Wimbledon - Nice to see a GOOD Federer - Roddick final!

US Open - Good to see Henman get to another semi - in my own un-biased opinion!

I more enjoyed the French Open because there were so many dramatic matches and i actually believed at one point that Tim might win the whole thing.... !!!!! Lol. The atmosphere was great in the Coria match and i wasn't even there. Could be compared to some of GB's dramatic Davis Cup ties - great atmosphere!

Re: Favorite Grandslam of 2004

I enjoyed all of them equally; every GS winner, happenend to have one of my favourite players winning them. Though the RG final was unforgetable, so my vote goes there.

Re: Favorite Grandslam of 2004

Aus Open -Ferrero got the furthest
RG- I remember saying that coria would definetly win it because i had never heard of Gaudio before. How wrong was I
Wimby- For me the most emotional, i cried when ferrero beat koubek, gave myself a headache during the match (well not really the match, the gap between score updates)
US Open - Hewitt got bagelled in the first set, i won $5 and i got to see the commentators choke on their words

JUAN CARLOS FERRERO

Juan Monaco, Tommy Robredo, Fernando Gonzalez, Juan Martin Del Potro, David Ferrer, Guillermo Garcia Lopez, Juan Ignatio Chela, Fernando Verdasco, Carlos Moya, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Lucas Arnold Ker, Nicolas Lapentti

My favourite is always going to be the Australian Open. I didn't like the final, but the lead-up matches were fantastic. I attend the whole first week and it's the highlight of my year, so I can't go past it.

In terms of finals my favourite was RG - because it was dramatic and interesting, and added that bit of variety with Federer winning the other 3.

Re: Favorite Grandslam of 2004

i always like the French Open, it's my favorite,. but this year i was especially excited by Wimbledon, particularly the final, which for me was a great beckoning of the rivalry of the contrasting games of Federer and Roddick!
