Brian was not looking that great on grass in his Q2 match, and looked decidedly better in the second set today. In the first set he was still testing the waters, and was frequently matched or outplayed by Teixeira on the baseline. But after that it was really one-way traffic. It did help that the Frenchman basically enters a downward spiral when he loses his head.
In short, I think you're right. Brian's chances of winning one or two matches in the MD are much higher now with these matches under his belt than they would have been otherwise, simply because he lacked match play on grass.
