I am proud of Baker. I am also proud of my fellow MTF members from around the world who are pulling for a deserving player who has had such terrible fortune. I know most of the Nadull and Olderer stuff is all in fun but this thread is tops.

Never have I seen MTF collectively root for and be happy for a player as much as this guy.

Hope he gets a nice draw and makes it through a couple of rounds. Keep it going Brian!
I know, right? Pretty incredible to see. Fairly sure he's been called a mug less than five times, and that was just inevitable from the oh so omnipotent TS-Doc.

He has at least four full days off until the main draw so it's not an issue.

not getting the WC was a blessing in disguise

This is truly one hell of a story. Hope it continues for a long time yet.

Brian was not looking that great on grass in his Q2 match, and looked decidedly better in the second set today. In the first set he was still testing the waters, and was frequently matched or outplayed by Teixeira on the baseline. But after that it was really one-way traffic. It did help that the Frenchman basically enters a downward spiral when he loses his head.

In short, I think you're right. Brian's chances of winning one or two matches in the MD are much higher now with these matches under his belt than they would have been otherwise, simply because he lacked match play on grass.

I am not fully on the bandwagon. I appreciate a good story and think Brian has a great likability about him, but I find his game and on-court behavior quite robotic or clinical.

Dammit.

S'pose I'll have to be the first BB hater.

I used to be your everyday average Joe. Then one day some guy told me I can do whatever I set my heart on. So I tried to fly, and failed. He then told me that there are limitations in life and that I should be more modest in my aspirations. So I robbed a convenience store and got arrested. He then told me not to take everything people say literally, and to use my own initiative. So I became a Trump supporter, and am politely asking you to leave my country.
