Queens R1: [LL] Sweeting def. Tursunov 6-4 7-6(6)

Tons of points down the drain for Dima, but a great win for Ryan here. Saved 7/7 BPs in the match, including 6 in the first set, most of them early in the set. Dima won one more point in the match and had a higher percentage of service points won, had *6-5 in the breaker and lost three straight points to lose the match.

I'm continually amazed at how Tursunov continues to be a non-factor on tour. When was his last decent result?

His win at Unicef Open last year . Since then, he's done jack all on the main tour.

You realize he underwent a surgery, right?

Having said this, it's a bad loss no matter how one looks at it. Sadly, it was expected, Mitya was shit at Nottingham. He seems to have lost any kind of timing, his footwork is terrible, he either loops the balls or just mishits them.

Out of the top 100 after this result.

Tursunov has been injured for most of the past like three seasons. He was a consistent top 40 player until then, the issues started in 2009.

Sweeting's serve is just too big for Tursunov...

What effort in qualifying? You do realise he only made it into the main draw as a LL?

Sad to see Tursunov turn in results like this. In his day he was a great grasscourt player and fun to watch. I hope once he retires, he gets involved in the ATP or something to do with the running of the game. He would be a huge asset to the game.

Re: Queens R1: [LL] Sweeting def. Tursunov 6-4 7-6(6)

Tursunov was caught up in rain delays in Nottingham challenger where he reached the final only two days ago, playing multiple matches per day. His wins in Nottingham don't look bad, he probably was still tired today. He'll probably do better next week.

Is that based on your observations of his matches? Because Dima actually reached the final in Nottingham, beating some good players.
