Olympics or Slam?

Which do you think is more important winning a Olympics Gold Medal or winning a Slam?
With the likes of Graf and Nadal stating that winning Olympics is more important than winning slams.
I personally think Slam because Slam winners is more widely recognized than Olympic winners.

Re: Olympics or Slam?

If you already have a slam, an Olympic Gold would be better on the resume than a second slam.
If you don't have a slam, a slam would be better than an Olympic Gold, if you have to choose.

Re: Olympics or Slam?

I also think the Olympics is a GREAT nation-tournament.

I mean, look at 2004. Chile won 2 gold there. That's pretty damn impressive.

Switzerland in 2008 only won 2 gold medals, one of them was the Tennis-Doubles. It's no joke.

But, considering the personal value of the medal, it's like 1/10 slam.

Re: Olympics or Slam?

the gold medal is more significant but everyone will vote slam on here because Tennis Olympics hasn't been around long enough for the prestige to really build yet. you better believe it will get there, just as it does for every other sport involved in Olympics, historical significance of the event cannot be denied, no matter how recently a sport has become involved

<3 Roger Federer <3 David Ferrer <3 Juan Martin Del Potro <3 Ernest Gulbis <3

------------------------ <3 Richard Gasquet <3

Rafael Nadal

Re: Olympics or Slam?

Olympics is a joke to be honest. I like the idea of McEnroe, making it a 5th slam every 4 years, and with 3 out of 5 sets matches. Why not?
