Has this not often resulted in a reality check come the final in previous Slams barring RG ?

No. Nadal has done this 4 times before - he's won the final every time. Nadal is also the only man in the Open Era to have reached 5 slam finals without dropping a set.

US Open 2010 Didn't lose a set till the final - then lost one in the final, but still won. Might be the same today. As for whether 2010 Djokovic was this Djokovic, I actually think US Open 2010 Novak played better overall than 2012 RG Novak has done - but who knows which one will turn up today. For Nadal's sake, hope it's not Rome 2011 Djokovic!
