Do you think Nadal could win a French Open starting each match with a 2 sets deficit?

He has twice won Roland Garros without dropping a set, including in 2010 when he wasn't even playing that well. He might very well do it a third time this year.

But its a different animal when you go in knowing that every match is as if its 2 sets all, and any set points whatsoever are match points down for you.

I still think 2008 RG Nadal could do it.

But probably not in this era. Djokovic and Federer would always at least get a set, particularly if they had the psychological edge of knowing it was as if they were 2 sets up every time before they hit a ball.

I still think he could do it though. Not like its ever going to happen, but he might be the only player in history who actually could.

Its harder on grass and HC obviously because one break and the set can be gone on those surfaces.

Fed won 2007 AO but he did face set points. That kinda pressure would be too much for him, or anyone for that matter.

"I did not play my best tennis, no? And..that is what enable him to win..to win this match no? "

No. he was close to losing sets. with the added pressure of being out after losing just one set and the added motivation for the opponent that he just needs to snatch one set. I'm sure players would take that one set.

Give the opponent 2 sets and a break against 08 Nadal and Nadal of this year and he would still snatch it

lol

But seriously, you could argue that Djokovic is the favourite to win here with his game to beat Rafa on any surface. Nole would at the very least take a set. Anyone who picks the other answer is a troll.

No, poor post. You could not currently argue that Djokovic is the favorite to win here. Last year at this time you could. But, with the two recent straight-set victories for Nadal as well as their current form, Nadal is a CLEAR favorite against Djokovic at this tournament. Nadal still hasn't even lost serve, and Djokovic was down match point lol...

After this turn of events, the next interesting matches will be on grass...

If I lose the first set, the match will be complicate, no?

Depends on the draw...

I didn't say he was the favourite, I just said you could argue the point that he could be. And how the hell is Nadal the clear favourite when he has been runner up to this guy in the last 3 consecutive GS's? There's points to take from both sides.

Wow really?

Maybe because this is clay? Maybe because Rafa won it 6 out of 7 times and Nole not even reaching one final?

If someone is good enough to stretch RN to 2-0, they'll beat him 9/10.
