Let's say you were hosting a special invitation-only event on outdoor red clay and you had to invite the world's best 8 players on the surface to play. Something like the "clay masters cup". Who would you invite and how would you seed them?
6. Del Potro
Reserves: (9) Almagro and (10) Monfils.
This of course assumes everyone is fully fit. There are doubts if Soda will ever return, but I'm basing it on his form over the past few years.
Blake may be poor on clay nowadays, but career wise he's not too bad. He's beaten the likes of Almagro, Moya (when top 10), Davydenko (ranked 11), Verdasco, Monfils, Monaco, Safin, Gonzalez, Murray and even Berlocq.
At the end of Federer's first round match at the Australian Open a fawning interviewer asked about his kids and if he had bought coach Stefan Edberg a birthday present - no, by the way, the privilege of knocking up with 'King Roger' was enough of a present apparently.

I'm no Fakervic fan but he needs to save tennis, sadly tree trunk legs will be fresh. Interesting he's never questioned....
Almagro is so much better than del Potro, probably Berdych too. How else is he anywhere near top 8 when he´s a bit of a HC mug? He gets as many points in CC season as Murray with much harder draws
I´m not gonna include soderling
7 del Potro
