Kevin Anderson to be top 20 this year?

I like Kevin more than other top20 players.
More consistant on results than others in this top (Granollers, Monfils) better mentality (Verdasco, Feliciano). Probably with less weapons except his very good service.
And with his 3rd in roland garros, he just can get better results on the other surfaces.
Any changes?
(Sorry about my actual bad english)

Nope or maybe. Mr Anderson might someday find that he is in the Matrix and he can do anything he wants.

If he somehow manages to do it, hey, all props to him, but I really don't see him as a top 20 talent. I think his current ranking (between 30-45) is more accurate in terms of what he's able to bring on court but, yeah, he's being consistent and mostly beating the players he's expected to. I just can't see him as an established top 20 player as of now.

But to be a top20 a short time it doesnt mean anything, necesary.
I always put the same example: Granollers, is he better than Anderson?
Or Feliciano Lopez...I think those kind of players have some kind of luck in a few tournments at the year (Granollers in Valencia 2 years) (Feliciano Wimbledon) but so irregular the rest of the year.
Others than Anderson had to do much work to stay in the top30 and normally losing with players much better.
Another example: Kolsreiber, this year loses with Delpo, Tsonga,Isner, Berdych...just a few with player of lower rank, even he won a title but never has been a top20.

Karlovic managed top 15...I can't see why Anderson can't serve his way into top 20.

Re: Kevin Anderson to be top 20 this year?

Nadal is in the top 2 so anything is possible.

Juan Martin Del Potro

But he lost 23 times against you.
's right. We have to also throw into the mix. But I do not think it is currently the decisive factor. But he has achieved in my opinion too much. Maybe this is crucial if I move him even closer after major victories. But 14 or 17 Grand Slam titles is a significant difference. At the present time there is no question that he must be the greater player than me.

Lots of people (in this forum too) care about players outside of the top 3. All real tennis fans do.

Only gloryhunting supporters of Federer/Nadal/Djokovic believe tennis begins and ends with the top 3. But who cares about them anyway? They're not tennis fans, or even Federer/Nadal/Djokovic fans. They don't love their games/personalities, just the glory they represent.*

On topic, Anderson could potentially break the top 20, he's been steadily improving and has a very good serve to build his game around. Could definitely see him as a solid top 20 player if he keeps making progress.

*Obviously I'm not implying that all the fans of the top 3 players are gloryhunters, I'm sure some love/follow them for reasons other than their success, but no one would deny that these players attract a lot of this kind of fan who only cares for one player and isn't even a tennis fan.

Re: Kevin Anderson to be top 20 this year?

I don't think he's top 20 talent but he could sneak into that ranking - he just needs that one big result. He's not playing the Olympics so Washington is a golden opportunity for 500 points. It worked for Granollers.

Andy Murray: 2012 Olympic gold and silver medalist. US Open Champ. Wimbledon champ. Never been prouder of him.

The Brian Baker Story. Proof that truth is stranger than fiction... until Hollywood buys the rights and proceeds to keep screwing the script up.

In unrelated news...let's take a look.

He's 34 right now...he's been as high as 28. I don't think top 20 is a stretch at all.

I think he could be top 15, he just needs to make the second week of Wimbledon, win a MM HC event this summer and place well at all the masters and the USO and I think he's in. That sounds like a lot but I don't think it's that hard for him, it's very possible and with how aggressively he strikes the ball and how well he serves, if he gets hot he could even do better than top 15.

I dont think its that of stretch to be in the top 20 or the bottom half of the top 20, two good tournaments back-to-back final weeks that is will get him there.
