Coria without a coach...again!

http://www.infobae.com/notas/nota.ph...Seccion=100443
Apparently it's because of the Masters. Markus doesn't want him to play and Coria does...
The article is in Spanish:

EFE

When I first saw the thread title, I thought the split would be over the Masters. Someone seems to be lacking good sense...

Re: Coria without a coach...again!

That's kinda dumb. What good will it do for Coria to play TMC anyways? Just take the rest of the year off and get your body/health back to 100%. Coming back from not playing on tour for a while and entering a field with the top 8 players in the world isn't such a smart thing to do.

Re: Coria without a coach...again!

I said this in the Spanish forum already, but here it is again.
Many people keeps saying that gaudio shouldn't go to the Masters (even though he has qualified) because he will do badly, it's not his favourite surface, blah, blah, blah. But I think Coria will do badly there, he even knows that. He lacks match practise, had surgery a few months ago, his now ex-coach doesn't want him to play, people that have seen him training in Madrid has told me that he doesn't have the strength enough to hit well the balls and his serve is very bad. Even himself doesn't expect to win many matches, or even one. So, why does he want to go there? He could make the injury worse! Why not recover and come back strong next year? He doesn't have anything to defend in Australia, so he could be risking his body.
I'm sorry if I offended any of his fans, but this is what I think...

I also think this situation has been bad for chela, now chela will have markus for himself, alone, finally.

I miss: Ivan Lendl, Korda, Novak, Bruguera, Rios, Kucera, Courier, Mantilla, Costa, Santoro and Ferreira.

Good luck to:

Gaudio, Murray, Florian Mayer, Chela, Nalbandian, Radek Stepanek, Volandri, Youzhny and Verdasco.

Re: Coria without a coach...again!

jazz_girl i agree with you. as much as I love Guille and miss him on the tour, he needs to make sure he is 100% fit. And I agree with Naldo that your first tournament back at one like TMC where you are with the top top players seems like it's not the best way to ease back into match practice. I don't think it has anything to do with the fact that he would maybe not play well b/c of lack of match practice, for me the concern should be making sure he is absolutely ALL BETTER from his surgery. Coria has been known to come back too early from much smaller and less serious injuries in the past. You'd think he would've learned by now. Better safe than sorry for him. He's so young, there are many chances to play TMC in the future.

It seems like his coach is just looking out for his best interests health-wise - it's too bad that a disagreement like this would cause them to end their working relationship

Re: Coria without a coach...again!

I agree with everything you said Deb (except that I'm not really a Coria fan). He should take a lesson from all the other guys who have had shoulder surgery and take his time coming back. If he's completely healthy, he should have no problem getting to the Masters next year.

Best twitter posts of the epic match:

@dougrobson - Whoever is supplying Mahut with hair gel needs to ink a sponsorship deal now.

@Wimbledon - FYI, with @Wimbledon live scoring devices, please add 50 to the games in the fifth set of the Isner v Mahut match.

@HolterMedia - Nice to see that a three-day test has come to tennis here @wimbledon.

Coria, you're going to run out of coaches to steal if you keep this shit up.

I lack direction.

Chocking makes me sad.

I heard that sponsors want Coria to play in Houston. In any case, I hope he does not play, so Andre will have a better chance of qualifying. He-he...(Sorry!)

Coria denies that he's doing it for his sponsers.

Well without knowing if this is true or not, I would really hope that he'd have the balls to say F YOU to his sponsors if he is not physically well enough to play. B/c having sponsors won't mean jack if he were to hurt his shoulder even worse and have to be out even longer or something like that.

That's not true, Guille said it wasn't.
I knew they weren't gonna last long, Coria is too ambitious and Markus just wouldnt be able to understand.
Guille's position is completely understandable. I mean, I dont know if I could see myself 3 months without playing tennis... imagine a pro. Its more than obvious why he wants to come back, even if its not the most recomendable thing to do.
Pro tennis players know what they're doing, or at least they're supposed to... if he decides to come back then its because he feels he can play, and I'll support him. Same if he decides not to play.
