Rafael Nadal and the Curse of the Pinkish Shirt

As I realize Rafa playing his 1st round match, he is wearing a pinkish shirt.

As a Nadal fan, I am a bit fearful. We all know what happened last time he wore pink at RG back in 09.

Not to mention in the Australian 2011, more red than pink, though.

Or Toronto 2010.

Point is, these red/pink outfits really ain't the best for Rafa.

So Rafa in RG 2012 is aiming to:

1. Win the title and pass Borg for most RG's in the Open Era with 7.
2. Reverse the curse of the pinkish shirt
3. Reverse the double Simon Reed jinx. One after Monte Carlo, one after Rome.

Lot of work on Rafa's hands this fortnight.

Perhaps RG is getting more and more boring for him. Everybody wants a challenge.

I thought the same
Rafa isn't that supersticious after all... I think he can't win in pink RG sadly (yes I'm supersticious )

Re: Rafael Nadal and the Curse of the Pinkish Shirt

Curse only applies when the player in question is ranked #1.

WTA #1 Vika Azarenka only narrowly avoided the curse of pink yesterday.

Juan Martin Del Potro

David Ferrer - Tommy Haas - Jo-Wilfried Tsonga

Andy Roddick - Juan Carlos Ferrero - Mardy Fish

Re: Rafael Nadal and the Curse of the Pinkish Shirt

what's even more spooky is that each of his shocking losses while wearing red/pink (referring to post 1) occurred while he was seemingly on top.

FO 2009, he had won three of the last four majors
AO 2011, he had won the last three majors
Toronto 2010, immediately following a flawless clay court and grass court season

right now, having beaten Djokovic in both Monte-Carlo and Rome, Nadal is seemingly on top again
we all know that Fed can't beat him right now, and Djoko is on a 2 match losing streak
in addition, with both Fed and Nole in the other half of the draw, Nadal is more favored than ever

dont wanna be superstitious but maybe he should swap to green, or some color very far from the red/pink end of the rainbow

Gulbis Ferrer Nishikori
Isner Nadal Dimitrov Istomin Wawrinka B. Baker

Berdych Monaco Granollers Leo-Mayer Troicki Roger-Vasselin Lu Paire

PAW Titles: Brisbane 2012 & 2014
FITD Titles: Marseille 2014
Tennis Tipping Titles
Singles: Orleans CH '11, Tampere CH '12, Medellin CH '12, Vancouver CH '15, Opava FUT '15
Doubles: Noumea CH '13 w/ Chirag, Cherbourg CH '14, Yokohama CH '15 w/ BMT360

Re: Rafael Nadal and the Curse of the Pinkish Shirt

The thing is that with that wild colour Rafa becomes easier target for his opponent. Attracted by his pink shirt they become irritated and hit the ball harder in all anger. That's why he loses important matches wearing pink

Well he did play his best in green in 2008.

It will be a massive hurdle for Rafa to win RG 2012.

Re: Rafael Nadal and the Curse of the Pinkish Shirt

He wants to break the pinkish shirt jinx, the Reed jinx, the Nole domination jinx. What a GOAT, what a fighter, what a warrior, what a clay king this Nadal.
