Roland Garros R1 : Giraldo def. Falla 5-7 6-2 6-4 7-6(4)

Giraldo takes the Colombian derby and plays Tomic.

Giraldo for RG campaign working.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Machado wins 6-2 6-1

Roland Garros R1: Giraldo def. Falla 5-7 6-2 6-4 7-6(4)

Very good win for Santi over his countryman. Falla with 62 errors, and 12 breaks of serve between the two. Falla went 5/21 on BPs, was up a break in the fourth set. 4th round points down the drain for Alejandro.

Too bad but this means no Olympics for Alejo Falla.

I like Falla's game too but it's good to see the better player won here. Giraldo-Tomic has to be televised or streamed.

Re: Roland Garros R1 : Giraldo def. Falla 5-7 6-2 6-4 7-6(4)

Giraldo was up in the third set, then Falla had chances to get up a break himself. Falla had tons of chances but Giraldo had 17 BPs himself. Both guys were in one another's service games, Santi simply took advantage more often.

Santi has a bad GS record so maybe this is the beginning of a turnaround there.

I do prefer Alejo out of the two and would have loved to have seen him defending as many of his points from last year as possible, but it's clear that Santi is currently the better player.

Good to see two Colombians battling it out against each other in slam. I never really got the opportunity to see much of the last notable Colombian on the tour before these two Hadad.

His 4th gs slam win I think, 1st win at RG
So great to see, this was a really tough matchup for him. Great to come back from that 1st set and tough out that 4th set. Simply tough for Falla to lose all those points from last yr
