Roland Garros R1: [Q] Berrer def. [30] Melzer 6-7(5) 4-6 6-2 6-2 6-3

First 2-0 sets down comeback in the tournament.

Jurgen isn't 100% so this was always going to be a great opportunity for Michi. Michi was up a break in the first set, so he could have won easier; nine breaks of serve for Berrer and 72 UEs for Melzer, 13 double faults.

Michi hasn't won 4 matches in a row on clay for a long time and Melzer well he has the wonderful record of losing from 2 sets 0 up 8 times now.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Great job Berrer. Good comeback. Next up against Devilder, so he definitely has a good chance at another R3 at Roland Garros.

I thought that berrer was too heavy to last 5 sets.
Amazing win from 2sets down
Was melzer injured in the 3rd?

Great come back, Berrer
Hopefully Melzer didn't have any problems I also read he was hip injury.

Fucking awful since Memphis, he's become really pathetic. He can't stay healthy for 2 weeks anymore.
Probably time to retire from singles play and focus on dubs

Melzer isn't 100%, there is speculation he took a MTO after the third set. Look at his double fault number, much higher than usual, he's not a double faulter. He was injured coming into this event, and lost R1 as expected.

I'm just saying, he can't really do it anymore, and it's probably hurting his doubles career.
I'd like him to stick around a while longer, but if I were him I think I'd quit singles if he can't get a few good wins in next few months

Agreed. Melzer doesn't often do many double faults and he has good serve.
Hopefully nothing serious.

Berrer is a fighter. RG suits his attitude. Not a good player to draw for Melzer who seems low on confidence...for singles at least
