WWW Roland Garros R1: Nieminen vs Andreev

These two played last season in Rome, where Andreev came through with a 6-4 7-5 victory. The winner will probably play Murray in R2. Andreev is the better claycourter, and Nieminen has been poor in GS events the past few seasons, so Igor is the favorite here and I expect him to come through, I think in straights, with two tight sets.

I saw Andreev withdrew against Monfils in Madrid, but he played a good match it seems with Mayer. Was he in good form this week and what was his injury? He's clearly the better claycourter but Nieminen is always tough

Jarkko badly needs to win this match...He is on a 5 match Grand Slam losing streak after getting tough draws like Ferrer twice and Verdasco and Nalbandian in the first round. He must take advantage of this easier draw to get through.

It was his right shoulder injury. When he played with Mayer, he took treatment. And then he didn't play any matches.

I agree with you. Nieminen is always tough to play
I vote Nieminen 5 sets.

I can´t see why Andreev would be the favorite here, Jarkko will take it in three sets, maybe four.
