Rome R2: Ferrero def. [13] Monfils 7-5 6-3

Gael was *4-1 in the first set. Could have easily taken it 6-2 given how he was in all of Mosquito's service games the first 3/4s of the first set, but completely fell apart with horrendous errors and lackadaisical play and by the end of the first set through the rest of the match, simply had no answers whatsoever to change the momentum against him. Made errors when he was going for his shots and was often too passive and allowed JCF to attack.

JCF really started hitting out with his shots after falling behind in the first set, served well, had good depth on his shots. Great competing and used all dimensions of the court expertly, used the dropshot effectively, really took advantage of Monfils' court positioning and play efficient offensive clay-court tennis. Awesome win for the Spaniard, he's still got it!

So so good seeing JCF again. Thought he might never come back.

Can't wait for one final Fed meeting.

I wonder whether I should just give up on Monfils.

Monfils does not play like a talented player at all. He just plays fetch like his K-Swiss commercial says.

Re: Rome R2: Ferrero dismisses Monfils 7-5, 6-3

It was a pleasure to see Juan Carlos hitting those beautiful FH winners; his BH solid and his net play very effective.
Love his fighting spirit!
Gael returned almost everything as usaul, but JC stayed aggressive, which I think gave him the upper hand, especially in those long long rallies.

JUAN CARLOS FERRERO FOREVER!!

Also supporting Rafael Nadal, Kei Nishikori, Lleyton Hewitt
David Ferrer, Andy Murray, Juan Martin Del Potro, Nikolay Davydenko, David Nalbandian
Goran Ivanisevic and Marat Safin

The commentators.
Wilks, if I were traveling with Gael, I'd need psychiatric help.
Koenig, I hear Rasheed is still recovering.
