Rome R1: Nalbandian def. [Q] Ramos 6-3 6-4
Decent performance from David, not great, but pretty good considering the conditions. Too good of a ballstriker for Ramos, took advantage of Ramos' deep court positioning with angles and hit some good dropshots. Ramos actually lost only six points on serve in the first set with a higher percentage of service points won in the first set on serve. In the second set David was up *5-2 and had MP at 5-*3 but finally closed it out from down 15-30 at *5-4.
Match was competitive as expected but overall David controlled baseline play and is the deserved victor. Now plays Murray in R2.
