Congrats Gilles! He served well in the first set and was overall the better player throughout the match. Tipsarevic next who he's never lost to.

This was a nice enough match, good dogfight, long rallies with plenty of winners at the end.

Too bad everyone was watching fed-raonic

he played pretty well and despite his moaning he is one of the best movers i have seen on this blue clay. was sliding into most shots with ease and didn't look to be off balance too much.

he is now 15-3 since the beginning of IW, 3 loses to isner, murray and nadal, top 10 form

Tori Amos

Re: Madrid R2: Gilles Simon def. Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-4, 6-3

It was a nice match. Pity Simon had to win.
As expected, Garcia-Lopez's winners were flashy shots on unimportant points.
Simon's winners were simple yet powerful on important points.
Garcia-Lopez saved a bunch of match points with bold plays before finally succumbing.
Tennis lost, but then again, it was a good match.
