Because Nadal was 17,18, 19 years old at the time. Once Nadal started working on his off-clay game, he reached a lot of finals. I wish there was a player similar to Djokovic circa 2011 to play against Fed in the period 2004 - 2007.

RAFAEL NADAL and GRIGOR DIMITROV

Rafa winning at least one slam in 10 consecutive years is the best achievement in Open Era tennis since Laver won all 4 Grand slam tournaments in the same year!

Inconsistency is a trademark for young players. You can't expect them to perform well day in day out like more experienced and established players.

He eventually started beating those players. You can't dominate the entire tour when you are 17 or 18 years old.

That only means Federer was so weak agaist Nadal.

Federer won his slams aginst mugs, face it. He was very lucky to peak when the tour lacked any good player bar young Rafa

Djokovic is better than any player from 2004-2007, but Federer would still beat him more than Djokovic would beat Federer.

I agree with you. I just think that Djokovic circa 2011 would have won a couple of slams between 2004 and 2007. Maybe 1 Australian Open and 1 US Open.
